Martin Ballard (CEnv CMgr FIEMA) is the Group Head of Environment for Wates, the built environment contracting, property retrofit, maintenance and development company, where he leads on Resource Efficiency and the Natural Environment for positive nature legacy.  Martin is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), a Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and a Chartered Manager (CMgr).  He champions the collaborative potential of CEnv professionals and has led the Society for the Environment (SocEnv) Soils & Stones project since Sep 2019; this cross-sector network of current and aspiring registered environmental professionals has helped to raise the profile of soils as a pressing environmental issue for policymakers and contributed towards a growing catalogue of guidance to improve practice on the ground.  In related charitable objectives, Martin is a Trustee and Exec-Director of CL:AIRE which is committed to sustainable land reuse.
