Dr Stephanie Wray is a biodiversity expert with over 30 years’ experience in the assessment and mitigation of impacts on biodiversity and the development of landscape-scale conservation strategies.
Her career began in international conservation projects in the Comoro Islands and subsequently in ecological and sustainability consulting. She holds a PhD in Ecology and an MBA specialising in Strategy, and her work focuses on the nexus between the business and natural world.
Stephanie was Global Environment Director for Hyder Consulting, now Arcadis and held several non-executive, interim management and strategy consulting roles at organisations including Peter Brett (now Stantec), Atkins, National Grid and ERM. She was Chief Sustainability Officer at RSK, where she founded the sustainability consultancy, Nature Positive, before founding her own consultancy, Athene Consulting, in 2024.
Stephanie is a past President of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, Chair of the Mammal Society, a trustee of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and a visiting lecturer in biodiversity at several UK institutions.
